What are the adverse reactions of metamizole sodium in pig farming
Metamizole sodium is an antipyretic and analgesic drug with strong analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and anti-rheumatic effects. However, metamizole sodium has certain toxic and side effects, and many pig farmers know very little about the contraindications and adverse reactions of this drug. This leads to abuse and the occurrence of various diseases. So, based on the author's discussion, here is a summary for reference.
Metamizole sodium belongs to the pyrazolone class of antipyretic and analgesic drugs. It is an addition compound of aminopyrine and sodium sulfite, and has antipyretic, analgesic and anti-rheumatic effects. Its characteristics are that it is easily soluble in water, its antipyretic effect is relatively pronounced, and it takes effect relatively quickly. Its antipyretic effect is 3 times that of aminopyrine, and unlike non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, it does not have side effects on the gastrointestinal tract.
The adverse reactions of metamizole sodium include:
(1) Allergic reactions: A small number of sick pigs develop allergic dermatitis and drug fever after using this drug, and severe cases can cause death.
(2) Liver and kidney damage: A small number may develop jaundice, liver enlargement, elevated transaminases, renal failure, etc.
(3) Blood system reactions: Long-term use can easily cause leukopenia, agranulocytosis, and thrombocytopenia.
(4) Toxic reactions: Large doses can cause weakness of the limbs, fever, conjunctival congestion, tremors, convulsions, lethargy and even coma, slow and irregular breathing, and finally can lead to toxic crisis such as increased heartbeat, weak pulse, decreased body temperature, and pale skin.
When metamizole sodium is used together with chlorpromazine, the antipyretic effect is enhanced, which can cause severe drop in body temperature. It can enhance the effects of phenylbutazone and thiopental sodium, so the dose should be reduced and used with caution. Therefore, it should not be used for a long time. However, in pig farming production, some pig farms immediately inject metamizole sodium as soon as they find a pig has a fever. This is not advisable. The cause must be analyzed before using the drug cautiously.
