How to use Bordeaux mixture? Keep these ten precautions in mind
1. Bordeaux mixture is a protective fungicide, so it must be applied before disease occurs;
2. Choose sunny weather with a breeze or light wind for spraying. Never spray in rain, fog, or on cloudy days with higher temperatures, to prevent the spray liquid from failing to dry promptly after reaching the crops and causing leaf burn.
3. Bordeaux mixture must not be mixed with sulfur-containing preparations such as lime sulfur. When the two are used on the same crop, there must be an interval of more than half a month.
4. Bordeaux mixture is a strongly alkaline liquid and must not be mixed with chemicals that react under alkaline conditions, to avoid decomposition, deterioration, and loss of effectiveness.
5. Bordeaux mixture must not be mixed with foliar fertilizers containing phosphate ions, such as monopotassium phosphate, to avoid copper ions reacting with phosphate ions to form copper phosphate, which precipitates and becomes ineffective.
6. Bordeaux mixture must be prepared and used immediately, to avoid the liquid being stored too long after preparation, causing copper hydroxide to precipitate and affecting efficacy.
7. When spraying, be thorough and meticulous, so that both sides of the leaves, the branches and vines, and the fruit are evenly covered with the liquid, in order to improve control results.
8. Do not use metal containers such as iron or aluminum to dissolve copper sulfate or store the liquid, to avoid corrosion and damage.
9. Peaches, plums, apricots, persimmons, and Yali pears are sensitive to copper; unbagged fruit should all use other fungicides;
10. This preparation should not be sprayed in damp, shady conditions or when dew has not yet dried, otherwise copper ions will penetrate into the plant and cause severe phytotoxicity. (191 Agricultural Inputs People)
