EPA Encourages Service Industries to Promote Environmental Protection, Commends 40 Businesses with Outstanding Assessment Results
To promote green living and consumption and enhance the quality of green service industries, the EPA has, since ROC year 99, worked with county and city environmental protection bureaus to progressively promote the "Green Store," "Eco-Friendly Hotel," and "Star-Rated Eco-Friendly Restaurant" programs. To encourage businesses with outstanding implementation results, the agency specially held the "ROC Year 105 Green Living and Consumption Promotion Results Presentation" on November 7 on the main stage of the 2016 Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF), publicly commending this (ROC year 105) year's 6 lodging businesses that obtained the hotel industry environmental protection mark, 14 green stores with outstanding green marketing capability assessments, 7 star-rated eco-friendly restaurants with outstanding assessments, and 14 eco-friendly hotels with outstanding assessments, in order to encourage service businesses' dedication and effort toward environmental protection work.
The EPA stated that the hotel industry environmental protection mark specification standard is the earliest one announced among the current 7 service industry specification standards. Since its announcement in ROC year 97, 16 businesses have obtained the eco-friendly hotel mark, and in ROC year 105 a total of 6 passed their applications, including gold-level eco-friendly hotels "Starway Hotel" and "Aspire Resort," silver-level eco-friendly hotels "Lijing Garden MOTEL," "Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area Affiliated Hotel," "Fullon Hotel Taipei Main Branch," and "Fullon Hotel Hualien."
The EPA further calls on the public and businesses to implement environmental protection actions and green consumption behaviors in their daily lives, hoping that through this event the public will understand the meaning of green service industries, and thereby give priority to choosing green venues for consumption, while also encouraging more domestic service businesses to join in, together responding to green living and driving the development of green industries, and promoting the green economy.
