Three tips for fertilizing potatoes in winter
1. Do not apply too much chloride-containing fertilizer. Potatoes should not be given too much chloride-containing fertilizer. When the concentration reaches a certain level, it can poison the plant roots, reduce the starch and sugar content of the product, affect yield and quality, and in severe cases even cause the crop to die. Therefore, fertilizers such as ammonium chloride and potassium chloride should be used with caution.
2. Apply organic fertilizer as base fertilizer. Use commercial organic fertilizer as the base fertilizer. If ordinary farmyard manure is used, it must be composted at high temperature to kill weed seeds and pathogens. If conditions permit, the compost can also be aged for 1-2 months. The chemical fertilizer applied in the base fertilizer should be kept 3-5 cm away from the seed potatoes to avoid affecting seed potato sprouting and emergence.
3. Timing must be grasped for foliar fertilization. When spraying trace elements and Di Guo Zhuang Di Ling on the leaves, the effect is better before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m. Spray the first time after the seedlings reach 30 cm in height, then spray the 2nd and 3rd times at 7-day intervals. This improves the ability of underground tubers to absorb nutrients and their swelling vitality, and promotes the speed of development. Wang Baihui
