Epidemic Prevention Measures for Fox Farms

Cut off all transmission routes. When introducing breeding foxes, request quarantine inspection by the veterinary department. To prevent the introduction of infectious sources, newly introduced breeding foxes must be kept in separate isolation for about half a month after arrival for observation, and can only be brought into the farm for rearing after being confirmed disease-free.

Other animals such as dogs are strictly forbidden from entering the farm. Other animals must not be kept mixed with foxes in the same farm, to prevent cross-infection.

Regular vaccination for prevention. Regular vaccination to enhance the specific immunity of foxes is an effective measure to prevent epidemics. Vaccination should be carried out 2 times per year (in December when retaining breeding stock, and in July 2 weeks after the cubs are separated from their mother and weaned), such as canine distemper vaccine and viral enteritis vaccine.

Drug prevention. Adding certain drugs to the feed can effectively prevent the occurrence of some epidemics. For example, feeding 1 oxytetracycline tablet per fox per week in the feed can not only prevent feed spoilage but also prevent the occurrence of intestinal diseases.

Regular disinfection. Disinfection is one of the important measures to prevent or eliminate infectious diseases. Therefore, the farm should be sprayed with Baidusha or peracetic acid for preventive disinfection throughout the whole farm every month, to control the occurrence of epidemics.
