General principles for formulating duck feed

1. Make the most of local feed resources; consider both nutritional value and low price in order to reduce costs.

2. The mixed ration should be close to the feeding standard, so as to avoid nutritional deficiency or excess, which could cause certain deficiency diseases or economic losses.

3. Pay attention to the quality and palatability of the ration; do not use moldy raw materials or those containing harmful substances to formulate the ration. The amount of feed mixed each time should not be too much; it is best to finish it within 7-10 days and keep the feed fresh.

4. All kinds of feed must be thoroughly mixed; especially various additives such as multivitamins, trace elements and drugs must be mixed well, otherwise adverse consequences will result.

5. The ration should be relatively stable; when a change must be made, it is best to have a 1-week transition period. This is especially important during the peak laying period.

6. The crude fiber content in the ration must not be too high, generally not exceeding 5%, and preferably around 3%.

7. The variety of feeds used in the mixed ration should be as diverse as possible, so that they can complement each other nutritionally and make up for one another's shortcomings. Zeng Qingjun
