Field-side black soybean food feast: Yunlin County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung invites everyone to join
To promote domestically grown non-GMO soybeans (black soybeans) and raise the self-sufficiency rate of coarse grains. On the morning of the 14th, Director-General of the Agriculture Department Chang Shih-chung, in the black soybean field of Mr. Tsai Tsai-hsing, the contract farming principal for soybeans (black soybeans) in Xiluo, joined in inviting everyone to come to the field and enjoy black soybean cuisine, from field to table, from mud to mouth, tasting the most authentic domestically grown black soybean dishes, non-GMO, with no pesticide residue, eating the most delicious, healthiest and safest Yunlin agricultural products.
Magistrate Lee Chin-yung said that black soybean is a type of soybean and, like soybean (yellow soybean), has excellent quality and high nutritional value. It is suitable for eating and also for processing into soy milk or soy sauce, and is one of the world's important crops. However, in recent years, with climate change, international grain prices have fluctuated, and genetically modified soybeans have also flooded the market, so food security is lurking in risk. For this reason, the county government continues to cooperate with the Agriculture and Food Agency's "Adjustment of Farming System and Revitalization of Farmland Plan", guiding the planting of import-substitution crops, promoting domestically grown non-GMO soybeans (black soybeans), raising the self-sufficiency rate of coarse grains, and at the same time safeguarding food security.
In addition, to encourage more farmers to jointly invest in the production of soybeans (black soybeans), the Yunlin County Government, in addition to the Agriculture and Food Agency's subsidy of 45,000 yuan per hectare for switching to import-substitution crops, has also added a subsidy of 12,000 yuan per hectare for non-GMO soybeans (black soybeans).
