Winter has arrived in the blink of an eye, and it is once again a wonderful time to admire plum blossoms! The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Management Office, under the Ministry of Culture, has planned a series of exhibitions and activities for flower lovers, from January 14 to March 1 of next year (ROC year 106): the "Playful Flower Ripples - 2017 Chiang Kai-shek Plum Blossom Festival," which will guide everyone through flower viewing, painting appreciation, tea tasting, hands-on workshops, and more. The cultural tradition of chanting about plum blossoms and enjoying flowers is passed down through practice. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
The "2017 Chiang Kai-shek Plum Blossom Festival" exhibition, opening on January 14, is divided into four areas, including a lifestyle aesthetics teacher works area, a floral art exhibition area, a digital projection area, and an artistic lantern installation, creating a unique festive atmosphere. On the same day, in conjunction with the Lunar New Year, renowned calligraphers are invited to write spring couplets on site during the "Welcome the Plum, Receive Blessings, and Take Home Spring Couplets" activity, and the public is welcome to collect them for free. At 2:30 PM on January 15 of ROC year 106, participating artists are invited to join the opening tea party, immediately followed on the 22nd by the "Taipei Quyi Troupe - Laughing to Welcome the New Year," which uses humorous storytelling and singing arts to introduce couplets, New Year greetings, and other amusing anecdotes of daily life, adding even more festive cheer to the New Year season. For tickets, please visit the National Theater and Concert Hall ticketing system.
After the New Year, the Management Office has specially planned free "Spring Garden Stroll" plum blossom viewing guided tours on February 11 and 19. On January 21, 22, and February 26, there will be a beautiful encounter with tea fragrance and floral art. At 2:30 PM on February 11, the "Discovering Plum Blossoms, Enjoying Art" event invites Hsieh Yu-wei, winner of the Best Hakka Singer at the 15th Golden Melody Awards, and his band to perform jazz and Hakka folk songs. The public is welcome to attend and enjoy the celebration of the Lantern Festival.
In addition to enjoying the sights, the Management Office has also planned a series of hands-on workshops, including the "Children's Maker Series - Nature Workshop Course," "Chiang Kai-shek Mini Lantern," and "Pink Plum Whisper" DIY, so that everyone can take home their own floral accessories besides admiring the flowers. During the event period, the shops inside Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall are also offering many promotional activities, which can be found on the website.
