New Taipei City Public Works Department Achieves Cloud-Based Digitalization, Showcases BIM Results
Embracing the cloud-based digital era, the New Taipei City Public Works Department will showcase the results of years of promoting Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, and on January 5 will present 3D-printed architectural and mechanical-electrical models of the city hall building. The city hall building is the size of a building block yet complete in every detail, and is paired with the most popular virtual and augmented reality technologies. The city government hopes that in the future cloud technology will be gradually implemented across various public service networks.
Since its upgrade to a special municipality, the New Taipei City Government has actively used technology to create a happy life for citizens. The Public Works Department has specifically promoted the 3D "Building Information Modeling" BIM (Building Information Modeling) policy into engineering contracts, and based on building BIM for public buildings constructed by the city government, applies BIM technology concepts to planning, design, construction management and more. The Public Works Department held a press conference on January 5 to explain that starting January 9, a 5-day "2017 New Taipei 3D Cloud Smart City - BIM Engineering Innovation Application Results Exhibition" will be held on the 1st floor of the city hall building, declaring to the public the city government's abundant results from its long-term investment in cloud technology. In the future, cloud technology will also be gradually implemented across the city government's various public service networks.
This results exhibition will be divided into two areas: the theme area and the engineering innovation application area. The theme area takes BIM's "City Hall Building Right Before Your Eyes" as its main axis, showcasing the architectural and mechanical-electrical BIM models of the city hall building that colleagues built themselves using their spare time, paired with the most popular virtual and augmented reality, floating projection, 3D printing and other devices, as well as IoT and spatial guidance technologies. Visiting citizens can experience through interactive means the new experience of technology being with them.
In the engineering innovation application area, the Public Works Department's use of BIM and other technological technologies in public works, building management, bridges, underground 3D pipelines, streetlights and community disaster prevention and other convenience services and innovative plans are exhibited. Each unit brings its ingenuity into play, using fun challenge activities and VR devices to let citizens feel immersed in the various public construction results promoted by the city government.
