Bali Tankan Oranges Reach a Brix of 14 Degrees, the Top Choice Fruit for the Lunar New Year
Sweetness Soars to 14 Degrees: Bali Tankan Oranges, the Top Choice for the Lunar New Year
As the Lunar New Year approaches, the tankan oranges of Bali District are gradually turning red. Affected this year by the large temperature difference between day and night in winter, the sweetness of the tankan oranges has soared to a Brix of 14 degrees, surpassing previous years. Those who want to taste them fresh should seize the chance and order early!
Bali District is one of the main citrus-producing areas of northern Taiwan. Among them, Longyuan Farm in Bali District is the largest farm growing tankan oranges in the greater Taipei area, with a planting area of about 3 fen of land and an output of about 10,000 jin. Farm manager Zhou Qingzhang said that all the tankan oranges grown on the farm are old-tree tankan oranges over 20 years old, with thin skins, sweet and juicy flavor, and fine flesh. Moreover, their tankan oranges are only harvested after "ripening on the tree" and are supplied directly to consumers in the greater Taipei area without long-distance transport or storage, making them absolutely fresher than the tankan oranges sold on the market. In addition, the fruit from their own farm undergoes regular pesticide residue spot checks every year, so everyone can eat with peace of mind and good health.
The Bali District Farmers' Association said that the season for Bali tankan oranges runs from about late December to early February. Because the ripening period is close to the Lunar New Year, they are also called New Year oranges. This year, affected by the warm winter, the tankan oranges changed color more slowly, and total output was about 80 percent of previous years. However, because of the large temperature difference between day and night in winter, plus high temperatures and little rain, the quality of the tankan oranges is especially excellent, with sweetness soaring to a Brix of 14 degrees, even better than in previous years. At present, sales of tankan oranges are very good, with a buying rush, so please seize the opportunity to order. If you are slow, you will not be able to buy them.
