The Nantou International Sand Sculpture Culture Park is expected to open on January 21. Construction progress has now reached about 90%, and work in the park is in full swing as crews rush to finish up. To make the visiting route and related facilities more complete, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen went in person on the morning of the 16th to conduct a final inspection tour, and instructed that dust control along the visitor walkways be strengthened, rest areas be added, and separation of the exit route be improved, in order to raise the quality of the visit. He also instructed that ramps on the embankment be added and lighting facilities be strengthened, so that visitors can use the temporary bridge to cross the Maoluo River to the lantern festival area to view the lanterns and the dinosaur exhibition.
The Nantou International Sand Sculpture Culture Park is the first large-scale long-term sand sculpture exhibition venue in the country, and is second to none at home and abroad. It is 1 km long in total, with 66 very distinctive sand sculpture works planned, all wonderful creations by outstanding sand sculptors from home and abroad. In addition to the lifelike Uncle Tea telling stories, there are also the Mona Lisa's smile, Michelangelo, Da Vinci and other famous figures, as well as sand sculptures shaped after the distinctive features of Nantou's townships. The exhibition will run for 1 year, and entirely new works will be launched again next year, different every year and very spectacular. People from all over the country are welcome to take advantage of the Spring Festival holiday to come to Nantou for a spring outing and enjoy the greenery, and be among the first to see it. Viewing the sand sculptures while also getting some walking exercise kills two birds with one stone.
This year's sand sculpture exhibition is also combined with the popular Nantou Lantern Festival and dinosaur exhibition. The Nantou County Government has specially provided a temporary path crossing the Maoluo River to make it convenient for visitors to travel between the two exhibition areas. At the same time, it has also used the high floodplain to create a sea of flowers, making the visual experience richer and more diverse. It is the best choice for a spring outing this year.
