New Year festival approaching: Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu inspects Qianzhen Fish Market and shows concern about supply and sales

The Lunar New Year is approaching. In order to understand whether fish and other daily necessities are in adequate supply, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu visited Qianzhen Fish Market today (the 19th) to pay early New Year greetings to the fishermen, fish vendors and consignees present, and to commend the hard work of the fish market staff. Along the way, Chen Chu greeted the public and handed out red envelopes and spring couplets one by one, receiving a warm welcome.

The Marine Bureau pointed out that with the New Year festival approaching, apart from a few seasonal fish species (white pomfret) whose prices have risen considerably, the supply of other fish is quite abundant and fish prices are reasonable. In fact, aquatic products are highly substitutable, and there are many affordable, high-quality aquatic products for people to choose from, such as the major domestically farmed fish species milkfish, Taiwan tilapia and giant grouper, as well as distant-water fish such as Pacific saury and processed products, all of which are top choices for Spring Festival gifts.
