Xihai Village in Dayuan District, Taoyuan was selected to take part in the Taoyuan City Environmental Protection Bureau's "105th Year Low-Carbon Environmental Neighborhood Program." Village Chief Liu Jianxun partnered with Luo Yuxin, principal of "Xihai Nature Kindergarten," to create a "keyhole water-channel vegetable garden" at the kindergarten, practicing green energy agriculture on one hand and letting children learn about low-carbon living on the other, weaving environmental awareness into early childhood education in a distinctive style.

Village Chief Liu Jianxun said that "Xihai Village" is the hometown of water, and this clean water village has nurtured a rich flower industry. The site selected for Xihai Village's "low-carbon environmental neighborhood" project this time is "Xihai Nature Kindergarten," where first-time visitors are often deeply impressed by the natural scenery on the grounds. The kindergarten covers a vast area with lush vegetation, and beside the wooden trellises and flower stands stand several large animal statues; lifelike zebras, camels, hippos, tigers and lions accompany the "keyhole water-channel vegetable garden" built with environmentally friendly methods, making it the children's favorite spot.

Environmental Protection Bureau Director Shen Zhixiu said that Xihai Kindergarten planned the "keyhole water-channel vegetable garden" this time, properly separating the water channels, walkways and vegetable plots, which not only maintains planting efficiency but also creates a distinctive pastoral atmosphere. Principal Luo Yuxin also called on the community empowerment group "Flower Mamas" to promote green energy agriculture, practice low-carbon cooking, and brew handmade flower tea themselves, showing a style all its own.

Environmental Protection Bureau Director Shen Zhixiu pointed out that Xihai Village is rich in flowers and promotes fine agriculture in a green, low-carbon way, making good use of its own resources and weaving environmental awareness into early childhood education in a distinctive style that is well worth affirming.
