2017 New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival: Lantern Festival Pingxi Travel Fun

The "2017 New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival" will kick off with great excitement this Saturday (2/11) on Lantern Festival. The New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department held a press conference on the 6th to promote traffic control and shuttle bus information, making full preparations for the only lantern festival event of the Spring Festival, and also urged everyone to use public transportation more to ease congestion on the event day. In addition, nature observer Mr. Liu Kexiang and Pingxi cultural history researcher Mr. Guo Congneng were invited to share the natural and cultural beauty of the Pingxi area, and everyone was invited to join the Pingxi mountain cleanup activities on 2/19 and 2/25, where the two teachers will lead everyone in maintaining the mountain forests and further take in the tranquility and beauty of the mountain town of Pingxi!

New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Hou Youyi said that this year's Sky Lantern Festival falls on a Saturday, so the crowds are expected to increase considerably compared with the past. He asked everyone to cooperate more by taking public transportation to the venue to ease traffic congestion on the day. On the day of the event, sufficient police and fire personnel will also be arranged to stand by at all times, raising the safety level to the highest so that visitors traveling to Pingxi can have a safe journey and happy memories.

Nature observer Liu Kexiang and Pingxi cultural history researcher Guo Congneng, the two teachers, called on the public to return to Pingxi for a trail mountain cleanup journey, leading everyone to join hands in cleaning the mountains, maintaining Pingxi's natural beauty, and exploring Pingxi's cultural charm. The activities will be held on 2/19 (Sun) and 2/25 (Sat), with 2 sessions each in the morning and afternoon each day (8 sessions total over the two days). The two teachers will personally lead everyone to visit eight hiking trails, and in addition to cleaning the mountains, let everyone learn about Pingxi's natural ecology and cultural charm. Registration will open at 10:00 a.m. on the 7th on the event website. Each session is limited to 25 people (200 people in total), and places are limited until full. A 300 yuan deposit is required for the activity, which will be refunded after check-in on the day, and every person who completes the mountain cleanup will receive a limited-edition commemorative card.
