Taipei City offers upgrade coaching for old hotels, helping them find new vitality
Taipei City upgrade coaching gives old hotels a makeover and new vitality
Who says an old hotel that wants to keep up with the times and give itself a full makeover of both software and hardware has to go around learning from experts? In Taipei City, 40% of hotels have been in operation for more than 15 years. Last year, the Department of Information and Tourism launched the "Taipei City Hotel Upgrade Coaching Program," which attracted more than 60 hotels to take part. In the end, 6 old hotels were selected. Through one-stop, integrated comprehensive courses and on-site guidance, the 6 hotels achieved substantive improvements, and an achievement presentation was held on the 13th.
As the social and economic environment continues to improve, hotels are no longer just places that provide accommodation; they are also stops for travelers that combine friendly tourism with cultural creativity. Many small and medium-sized old hotels also want to transform and renovate, but they lack the means and do not know where to begin. The Department of Information and Tourism integrated professional knowledge across 6 major areas - "connecting with international booking websites, raising housekeeping service standards, hotel room assignment and customer experience, interior decoration and design, overall marketing and operations, and environmental protection and energy saving and carbon reduction" - to provide one-stop service planning. Through systematic courses and on-site case-by-case coaching, it guided hotels in need of assistance, enabling them to try combining local culture and creativity, successfully finding new vitality for old establishments and helping each operator save nearly 1 million yuan in consulting and coaching costs.
History grows more fragrant with age; and in an old hotel, every brick and tile within easy reach bears the marks of time and the warmth of human connections, like an elder quietly telling the city's story and leading travelers to feel Taipei's prosperity and changes. Through this joint public-private effort to complete the "Taipei City Hotel Upgrade Coaching Program," these old hotels once again display their splendid urban memories and their irreplaceable cultural elegance amid the surging tide of time.
