By learning from others' experience, one can improve one's own work. On the 22nd, 28 agricultural mentors of the Yunlin Farmer University received their mentor appointment letters for the second semester of the 105th academic year. County Magistrate Li Jinyong stated that in agricultural extension, Yunlin has introduced a dual-track mentorship system, with veteran mentors bringing out their best skills and passing on all they know, so that 65 trainees can achieve the best learning results in the shortest time.
County Magistrate Li Jinyong pointed out that many young people in Yunlin are interested in entering agriculture, but they lack knowledge and skills, or have theory but no practical experience, and may stumble. The mentorship system's distinguishing feature is that senior and highly experienced agricultural mentors guide beginners into the world of agriculture and pass on to their apprentices the agricultural knowledge they have learned throughout their lives, avoiding unnecessary trial and error.
Zhang Shizhong, Director of the Department of Agriculture, pointed out that the nation's first farmer university education system provides trainees with a complete platform for learning agricultural knowledge. Through study, seminars, forums and hands-on practice, participants grasp current trends, enhance professional capabilities, and build "farmer power," with the aim of making Yunlin the leader of Taiwan's agriculture.
The Farmer University plans 11 courses, offering courses in Agricultural Development and Management, Foundations of Safe Agriculture and Agricultural Information Applications, Agricultural Production Technology, Agricultural Enterprise Management and Knowledge Management, Advanced Safe Agriculture and Agricultural Information Applications, and Agricultural Management Practical Seminars, supplemented by the design of an agricultural mentorship system. The curriculum combines both theory and practice, and is called the "dual-track mentorship system."
County Magistrate Li Jinyong emphasized that after the dual-track mentorship system is implemented, apprentices will receive their mentors' full instruction in agricultural management, and their performance will steadily improve, with the student surpassing the teacher.
