Do you know what is the one thing that must never be done to roses in summer? Well, I won't keep you in suspense any longer. Let me tell you: in the harsh environment of summer, the one thing you must never do to roses is propagate them by cuttings. You could say this is the least suitable season for cuttings.

For this, I went out of my way to gather some experience, all heartfelt words from seasoned gardeners. First, the timing of cuttings must be chosen correctly to get twice the result with half the effort; otherwise, you will get half the result with twice the effort. Summer needs no mention; even I feel it is hard to survive in summer, let alone roses. Although roses are not delicate, it will always have an adverse effect on their growth, so it is best to do this as little as possible. The best time for cuttings is winter, from December to January, combined with winter pruning.

Choosing the soil for cuttings is also very important. The soil determines whether the cuttings will survive, so it is truly a matter of great importance. Therefore, you need to put some thought into choosing the soil. The soil should be well ventilated and well aerated. There is also a little trick that I would not normally reveal easily, but since you are all so lovely, I can share it: you can place a few centimeters of coarse sand or similar material at the bottom of the pot as an aeration layer, and then add soil with strong drainage.

After completing the above steps, it is time to formally enter the cutting stage, which will test your skills. Choose thick, sturdy branches as the cutting material, as they are more likely to survive; branches that are too thin and weak will not live long! Try to keep the branch length at around 8 cm. Next comes the practical part, and you need to get hands-on. At the same time, cut off the upper and lower parts of the branch, leaving 2-3 leaves in the middle. After pruning, insert one fifth of the branch into the soil, and after that you only need to keep the soil moist.

Many sellers offer after-sales management, and our rose cuttings also have so-called post-cutting management. What form does that take? Let us take a look at them together! Winter cuttings need protection from freezing, and the supply of sunlight must not be interrupted either.

Notes:

First, after the branch is cut, it must be planted as a cutting immediately.

Second, pay attention to the false-liveness phenomenon in roses. Since it is false liveness, that means the rose has not actually come back to life. Therefore, when it has only grown buds but no roots, do not rush to let it bask in the sun.
