New Southbound Policy gains traction: Malaysian media visit Chiayi County for tourism coverage

In recent years, in line with the New Southbound Policy, Chiayi County Magistrate Zhang Huaguan led the county government team to vigorously promote tourism under the theme "235 Fall in Love with Me Love Skyline," and has also traveled to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines to promote tourism. On the 7th, as the New Southbound Policy gained traction, it attracted 3 Malaysian media outlets (The Star, Sin Chew Daily, Kwong Wah Yit Poh) and a photography union, 61 people in total, to visit Chiayi for sightseeing and reporting, experiencing the unique Alishan cherry blossom season.

The Malaysian media and photography union group arrived in Chiayi on the afternoon of the 7th. Their first stop was the famous High-Heel Church. In the evening, Deputy Magistrate Wu Fangming, Longyun Villa owner Deng Yayuan and others hosted them together. In his speech, Wu Fangming introduced Chiayi County's tourism environment to the Malaysian guests, and also promoted the Tea Expo and the 2018 Taiwan Lantern Festival held in Chiayi, hoping that Southeast Asian travelers would all come to Chiayi for in-depth tourism.

Wu Fangming pointed out that this Malaysian group came to Taiwan for 7 days, and for the first 3 days they chose famous attractions in Chiayi County such as the High-Heel Church, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, Fenqihu and Alishan as important itinerary stops for Taiwan tourism. In the future, the county will continue to cooperate with tourism operators in Southeast Asia and other regions, using rich travel experiences to attract domestic and overseas visitors to Chiayi County.
