How to prevent and control pests and diseases of the Chinese medicinal herb Eucommia ulmoides? All the methods are here
Diseases
(1) Damping-off disease Mostly occurs in seedbeds with low temperature and high humidity, heavy clay soil, overly dense seedlings, and grass removed too late. Control methods: when preparing the soil, spread 7-10 kg of ferrous sulfate powder per mu or spray 3 kg of 40% formaldehyde solution, then cover with grass for soil disinfection; when sowing, mix 2.5 kg of 50% carbendazim per mu with fine soil and spread it on the seedbed or in the sowing furrow; during the disease period, irrigate with a 1000-fold dilution of 50% carbendazim.
(2) Root rot disease Generally occurs readily during the rainy period from June to August. It is advisable to choose a plot with high terrain, good drainage, and loose soil as the nursery. Control methods: in the early stage of the disease, irrigate with a 1000-fold dilution of 50% thiophanate-methyl.
(3) Leaf blight disease Damages leaves, and in severe cases the leaves wither and die. Control methods: clean the field; during the growing season, spray Bordeaux mixture at 1:1:100.
Pests
Leopard moth The larvae bore into and damage branches and trunks, causing the tree's vigor to decline. Control methods: clean the field in winter; in early June, before the adults lay eggs, paint the trunks with whitewash; during the larval hatching period, spray a 400-800 fold dilution of 40% dimethoate emulsion on the trunks.
In addition, there are also pests such as aphids and bagworms causing damage.
