Taipei City Horticulture and Floriculture Workers' Union Shows Skills in a Hundred Flowers Blooming Display

Taipei City Horticulture and Floriculture Workers' Union yesterday (22nd) held the "Spring Feast" vocational training teacher and student creative achievement exhibition at the Star Shining Garden Hotel. The event was spectacular and the floral artistry was superb.

The Taipei City Labor Bureau encourages unions to help their members upgrade and cultivate professional skills. The floriculture union has long organized vocational skills training courses and proactively given teachers and students a stage for presentation, enhancing the professionalism of practitioners and stabilizing employment, while also achieving the effect of passing on skills. The Taipei City Horticulture and Floriculture Workers' Union was established in the 73rd year of the Republic of China and has now been in existence for 33 years. It has received recognition as an excellent union in Taipei City 11 times in total. Since the 99th year of the Republic of China, it has undertaken the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, Taipei-Northern-Keelung-Yilan-Hualien-Kinmen-Matsu Branch Office's program to enhance workers' independent learning. This year marks the 8th year, with nearly 20 course sessions offered and about 600 trainees. Members have shone brilliantly in various exhibitions and competitions, including the "2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition," "2011 Taiwan Flower Show," "2012 Flowers in Taipei Expo," "2013 Taipei Floral Installation Art Grand Exhibition," "2014 Winter Floral Art Presentation," and the "Gold Cup Floral Design Regional Competition."

The Taipei City Labor Bureau organizes the Taipei City Outstanding Worker Selection Activity. To encourage workers with superior skills, outstanding performance, and skill inheritance, it added the Outstanding Skill Award starting in the 105th year of the Republic of China. This year (the 106th year of the Republic of China), among the unions, the Carpentry Workers' Union, the Electrical Installation Workers' Union, and the Women's Permanent Wave Workers' Union all had members with outstanding skills register for the selection. The Labor Bureau encourages unions in the future to hold related activities and training following the model of the floriculture union, using the concept of passing the torch to drive more workers to refine their skills.
