Control Methods and Technical Key Points for Gastrodia Tuber Rot
(1) Symptoms The tuber skin of Gastrodia tuber rot turns yellow and withered, the central tissue decays, and the interior of the tuber becomes a foul-smelling, thin slurry. Some upper-layer Gastrodia tubers rot and shrink, while others have only part of the upper portion rotten or the cortical layer necrotic, whereas lower-layer Gastrodia tubers are unaffected or affected.
(2) Control Methods
(3) Strictly select fungal material and fungal beds.
When planting Gastrodia, strictly select the fungal material and fungal beds. If any fungal material is infected by miscellaneous fungi, it is better to discard it than to use it.
① Strictly select seed tubers. When selecting seed tubers, do not use partially rotten seed tubers or plant diseased seed tubers into the pit.
② Strengthen field management. Controlling suitable temperature and humidity and avoiding long-term water accumulation in the pit are the fundamental measures to prevent the occurrence of rot.
③ Pay attention to site selection. Choose a site with few surrounding diseases for cultivating Gastrodia, and disinfection treatment may be carried out.
Pay attention to cold protection measures at ordinary times. For spring Gastrodia, take cold protection measures during overwintering to ensure safe overwintering. If safe overwintering cannot be achieved, harvest should be carried out before overwintering.
