What are the main pest and disease control methods for Coptis teeta?
The main disease of Coptis teeta is powdery mildew, followed by leaf spot and root rot. The pest is the slug. The Coptis teeta base should be inspected regularly, and pest and disease control should be strengthened.
For the disease powdery mildew, which mostly occurs on new leaves of the current year, a white powdery substance appears, later becoming water-soaked, and the leaves gradually turn reddish-brown. Topdressing with pig manure water can restore the seedlings to green, then spraying with 0.3—0.5 degree lime sulfur mixture can be used for control, or spraying with 1000-fold Thiophanate solution can be used for control. Coptis teeta should not be planted in continuous cropping; if continuous cropping is practiced, leaf spot and root rot often occur. This can be prevented by applying sulfur powder to the soil (mix 2.5 kg of sulfur powder with 100 kg of organic fertilizer per mu and apply to the soil).
For the pest slug, which feeds on leaf buds, freshly weathered quicklime powder can be sprinkled in the evening or early morning for control.
