Taichung City promotes lychees in Japan to expand the international market
Taichung's fresh, juicy lychees have recently come onto the market one after another. With Taichung lychees recently being exported to Japan, Deputy Mayor Chang Kuang-yao led a delegation to Tokyo, Japan on the 28th (yesterday) to hold the "Taichung Fine Lychee Promotion Event," and invited Representative to Japan Hsieh Chang-ting and Hiwin Technologies Chairman Jhuo Yong-cai, who assisted with lychee exports to Japan, to jointly promote the fruit, hoping to expand the international market.
The "Taichung Fine Lychee Promotion Event" was held yesterday in Tokyo, Japan by the Taichung City Government together with the Hiwin Technologies Cultural and Educational Foundation, the Taichung Branch of the Taiwan Provincial Fruit Marketing Cooperative with Guaranteed Liability, and National Chung Hsing University, among other units. Fresh lychees and snacks made with lychees were displayed on site, so that Japanese friends could taste the deliciousness of Taichung's agricultural products.
The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau said that Hiwin Technologies Chairman Jhuo Yong-cai purchased 1,450 boxes, 2,175 kg, of Taichung lychees from the Fruit Marketing Cooperative for promotion in Japan. This batch of lychees used lychee color-preservation and water-loss-prevention treatment technology developed by National Chung Hsing University, solving the problem of faded appearance caused by the steam heat treatment currently required for lychees exported to Japan, making the lychees look better.
In addition, the Agriculture Bureau also held a lychee marketing and promotion event at the Liuchuan Waterfront in Taichung, and today will hold one at the National Library of Public Information. At the two events, agricultural specialty products such as Taichung Heiye lychees, domestically grown non-GMO soybeans, Taiwan wheat, Xinshe coffee, Dongshi Fengshui pears, and Waipu dragon fruit will be displayed and sold on site. Lychee tasting activities will be arranged on site, and lychee-related drinks will be introduced to increase the added value of lychees.
