The Pingtung Bluefin Tuna Cultural Tourism Season will launch on May 6. This year's bluefin tuna season introduces themed artistic light installations, exclusive specialty snack banquets, Donggang mini-trips and other activities, offering a rich and diverse lineup. County Magistrate Pan Meng-an stated that the bluefin tuna season, now in its 17th year, has transformed traditional fishing village culture by combining local culture, industry, tourism and other resources to build the reputation of the hometown of bluefin tuna. He welcomed everyone to join the festivities in the Greater Donggang area, to taste fresh seafood and enjoy a summer of fun.
The county government held a press conference on the 3rd, where County Magistrate Pan Meng-an, together with Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Management Office Director Hsu Chu-lung, Donggang Township Mayor Hsu Chih-hsiung, and Donggang Fishermen's Association General Secretary Lin Han-chou, jointly poured in blue sequins to make a fishing boat model rise slowly, symbolizing the great tuna entering the harbor to celebrate a bountiful harvest, safeguarding marine resources, and unveiling the joyful prelude to the bluefin tuna season.
County Magistrate Pan Meng-an stated that the opening event will be held on the evening of May 6 at the plaza in front of Donglong Temple in Donggang Township, featuring a "Great Tuna" star gala concert, with Golden Melody Award-winning queen Sun Shu-mei, Golden Melody Award best new artist Wu Shen-mei, and popular tribute singers "Little Jacky Cheung" and "Little Chiang Yu-heng" performing enthusiastically. The surrounding area will be combined with decorative light art to turn Donggang into a dazzling city that never sleeps.
This year, artistic light installations have been planned, featuring 3 major themes and 8 groups of light displays: "Bountiful Fish and Water," "Donggang's Three Treasures," and "Happy Donggang." From 5/6 to 6/30, lights will be on every night from 6 PM to 10 PM along the embankment beside the Guangfu Road drainage channel in Donggang Township, adding nighttime ambiance with lighting. After enjoying seafood, visitors can also stroll through the artistic light display streets.
Many other special activities, such as food tasting and food mini-trips, are equally exciting and worth anticipating, and there are many great gifts for the public to take home. Everyone is encouraged to participate. For details, please check the official website.
