How to identify and prevent ginger blast in sand ginger?
Because ginger blast and ginger wilt are easily confused in appearance. Please distinguish them according to the following method, and then take the corresponding control measures. In ginger wilt, the rhizome turns brown, while ginger blast in the early stage of the disease appears translucent and water-soaked, yellowish-brown, and loses its luster. In ginger wilt, squeezing the diseased part exudes a clear liquid, while in ginger blast, because the internal tissue softens and rots, leaving only the outer skin, squeezing the diseased part can discharge a dirty white, rice-water-like milky (white turbid) juice with a foul odor. If the diseased plant is judged to be ginger wilt, in the early stage of the disease you can promptly spray 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder 600 times dilution or 50% benomyl wettable powder 1200 times dilution or 64% sandofan wettable powder 500 times dilution, once every 5-7 days for 3 consecutive sprays, alternating the chemicals.
If it is judged to be ginger blast, it is recommended to take the following comprehensive preventive measures:
(1) Rotate crops or adjust the product structure. Because the pathogen of ginger blast generally survives in the soil for more than 2 years, especially in old ginger-growing areas, due to continuous cropping year after year, a large amount of the ginger blast pathogen survives in the soil, and even if healthy ginger seed is planted, it is difficult to avoid the disease. Especially where contiguous cultivation is carried out in production areas, the pathogen can also spread with rainwater or irrigation water. At present, there is no ideal fungicide for controlling ginger blast, nor is there an ideal disease-resistant variety. Therefore, replant only after an interval of more than 3-4 years, and before replanting, consider planting grain crops or vegetable crops. But be careful not to plant crops such as tomato, eggplant, chili pepper and potato, especially in plots where bacterial wilt has occurred.
(2) Before planting, pay attention to soil disinfection. 20-30 days before planting, apply 50-100 kg of calcium cyanamide and sufficient decomposed organic fertilizer per mu (667 sq m) and irrigate, then cover with plastic film for 15-20 days, then prepare the land for sowing. Soil disinfection generally works better at above 20°C.
(3) Strictly select disease-free seed ginger. Before harvesting the ginger, strictly select seed in disease-free ginger fields, store it separately in a single storage room, and strictly select again before planting the following year.
(4) The ginger field should be chosen on a plot with high terrain and good drainage.
(5) When diseased plants are found, remove them promptly, remove the healthy plants within 0.5 m of them as well, dig out the pathogen-bearing soil, spread lime in the diseased holes, and then bury them with clean, sterile soil.
(6) For mild disease, use 95% dexon 1000 times dilution or 30% triflumizole 1000 times dilution, or 50% benomyl 1200 times dilution, spraying once every 7 days for 3 consecutive sprays, which is beneficial for controlling the disease.
