How to grow the Chinese medicinal herb Lindera aggregata? A detailed guide to cultivation techniques

Cultivation techniques for the Chinese medicinal herb Lindera aggregata

Seed

Select well-grown, sturdy plants as mother plants for seed collection. Harvest the drupes around the 20 days before and after the Start of Winter each year. After harvesting the drupes, remove the outer skin and discard deteriorated and unfilled seeds. The 1000-seed weight is 80g±4g. Store them in moist sand, checking frequently during this period to maintain a certain humidity.

Sowing

Sow around the Qingming Festival each year. Choose well-drained, fertile red soil (or red-yellow soil). Before sowing, the soil should be plowed in advance so it is fully weathered. Apply organic fertilizer before sowing, using the drill or broadcast method, at a sowing density of about 5kg of seed per mu. After sowing, cover with soil (about three times the thickness of the seed size) and cover with rice straw (cut to 3cm-4cm lengths).

Seedling management

After the seeds germinate, set up black shade netting according to climatic conditions. After the seedlings sprout, weed promptly and apply topdressing to the seedlings once every 2 months. Remove the shade netting in September to harden the seedlings. Pay attention to drought resistance and drainage at ordinary times. Generally, seedlings can be transplanted after 1-2 years.

Planting management

The transplanting site should be chosen in a sunny place with fertile soil. Plow and prepare the land before the Start of Winter of the previous year so the soil is fully weathered and matured. At the same time, remove all weeds and tree roots, break up clods and level the ground, forming horizontal belts about 1m wide. For mountain land, red soil (or red-yellow soil) that is slightly acidic is suitable; the soil should be deep, and the mountain slope should preferably be kept within 20°. Apply organic fertilizer before transplanting. Transplant the seedlings in early March, about 2000-4000 plants per mu. When planting, the depth should cover 2cm-3cm above the roots, firm the soil by stepping on it, and water with settling water. Weed frequently, fertilize 2-3 times per year, and prune appropriately.

Precautions

Select well-grown, sturdy plants to harvest Lindera aggregata seeds. After seed collection, store them in moist sand and mix in New High-Fat Film to increase the seed germination rate. Choose well-drained, fertile red soil (or red-yellow soil). After sowing, cover with soil and rice straw, and spray the soil surface with a 600-800 times dilution of New High-Fat Film, which can preserve soil moisture, prevent water evaporation, protect against sun and drought, keep warm and prevent freezing, prevent soil crusting, suffocate and isolate pest and disease sources, and increase the emergence rate.

In the field where Lindera aggregata has been transplanted and the seedlings established, weed and loosen the soil promptly to ensure sufficient water and fertilizer. When the leaves begin to expand, spray the leaf surface with Yaocai Gendaling. This enables the products of leaf photosynthesis (nutrients) to be transported to the root system, improves the nutrient conversion rate and soil-loosening capacity, makes the rhizome expand rapidly, and greatly increases the medicinal content. At the same time, strengthen integrated pest and disease control, and spray New High-Fat Film to enhance the control effect. In late autumn, do a good job of overwintering cold protection and heat preservation to ensure safe overwintering.

Pest and disease control

Control of the camphor webworm: combine manual capture and removal of the pest nests with pesticide application. In winter, deep-plow the soil under the tree canopy together with fertilization to freeze to death the larvae that overwinter in cocoons in the soil. Other control: adopt specific methods for other control according to actual conditions; for pesticide use, refer to the relevant pesticide use regulations for green food.

Harvesting

It can be harvested after 6-8 years of growth, and the harvest time is winter.
