Taichung Light and Shadow Art Festival opens at Dragon Boat Festival Taichung Railway Station large 3D light sculpture show

To celebrate the centennial of Taichung Railway Station and warm up for the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition, the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, in cooperation with the Taiwan Railways Administration, moved the stage of the "2017 Taichung Light and Shadow Art Festival" to the old train station, with the theme "Floating Light - Flowers Playing with Shadows." From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the 27th and 28th, a large 3D light sculpture show will use light and shadow to present the alternating old and new features of Taichung; in addition, there will be cross-disciplinary interactive dance performances in a light and shadow theater, the country's first "mobile light and shadow vehicle," the first city game integration "Memory Interference," interactive installations recalling the century-old station, and other rich activities, all highly anticipated.

The press conference for the 2017 Taichung Light and Shadow Art Festival was held on the 16th at the Taiwan Boulevard Municipal Building, opening with a 120-second 3D light sculpture show based on a model of the train station building. Attendees included Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-ying, Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Wang Chih-cheng, Taichung Station Master Yeh Jen-ho, Central District Chief Huang Chih-min, East District Chief Chiang Hui-wen, Taiwan Sun Cake Museum Chief Executive Chen Ying-tsung, and Taiwan's Most Beautiful Rural Story Museum Director Lin Pei-hsuan, among others. Everyone also experienced the interactive games of the mobile light and shadow vehicle, and the atmosphere was lively.

Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-ying said that this year the Light and Shadow Art Festival is combined with the centennial celebration of Taichung Railway Station, linking the historical memories from the station's completion to the present, and planning a rich 3D light sculpture show that incorporates the light and shadows of flowers such as Oncidium, gladiolus, anthurium, and lily to welcome the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition. The "Memory Interference" city reality puzzle game takes everyone on a light trip through the old urban area, while the mobile light and shadow vehicle, converted from egg ice and cotton candy carts, will conduct fun animated interactive games with the audience. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy it during the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, and experience an artistic feast woven from the old city and modern technology.
