Dragon Boat Festival Long Weekend Trip to Gaomei Wetlands: Taichung City Promotes Sightseeing Buses
Visiting Gaomei Wetlands During the Dragon Boat Festival Long Weekend: Taichung City Promotes Sightseeing Buses
Praised by overseas websites as a "must-visit at least once in a lifetime" spectacular sight, Taichung's Gaomei Wetlands draws crowds of visitors every holiday. To serve travelers, the Taichung City Transportation Bureau has planned 3 holiday sightseeing bus routes to Gaomei Wetlands. The first, Route 655 departing from Ling Tung University, began service on April 8, and the second, Route 688 departing from Qingshui Railway Station, will also launch on May 27. With the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend approaching, the Taichung City Government recommends that people heading to Gaomei Wetlands take the sightseeing buses to arrive more quickly.
Transportation Bureau Director Wang Yichuan pointed out that the bureau began planning 3 new holiday sightseeing bus routes at the end of last year. The first, Route 655, began service on April 8, stopping at Wuqi Sightseeing Fishing Port, Wind Turbine No. 9, Gaomei Wetlands, the High Speed Rail Station (TRA Xinwuri Station), Rainbow Village, Ling Tung University and other stops. The second, Route 688, officially launched on May 27, departing from Qingshui Railway Station and stopping along the way at the Port Arts Center, Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Center, Wind Turbine No. 18 (the Cross-Sea Landscape Bridge), Wind Turbine No. 9, Wuqi Sightseeing Fishing Port and other famous attractions in the Qingshui District. In addition to coordinating with TRA train schedules, it also adopts a cruise-ship concept at the Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Service Center, departing on a fixed schedule so travelers can keep track of boarding times and leisurely experience the local scenery. The third route, "Gaomei Wetlands - Taichung Railway Station," is being actively prepared by bus operators and is expected to begin service in mid-year.
The Transportation Bureau stated that since visitor numbers at Gaomei Wetlands can reach 100,000 per month, and important tourism facilities such as the Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Service Center and the Cross-Sea Landscape Bridge have been completed one after another, integrating public transportation services makes it convenient for travelers to plan one-day itineraries.
