Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien: "Youth Good Day Handmade Market" to Launch Sunday

To encourage young people to take part in suitable leisure activities and give free rein to their creative ingenuity, the Hsinchu City Government began holding "Youth Handmade Workshops" in May, arranging instructors from various fields to share their maker experience, and this Sunday (June 4) at 2 p.m. on the green space beside the Youth Center it will hold the "Youth Good Day Handmade Market," providing young students with a space to present their creations. Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien invites residents to come together to "support my youth" and create a Young weekend.

Mayor Lin Chih-chien said the Youth Center will take young people as its core concept, combining cultural and creative performances with green space and linking surrounding resources to hold regular arts and cultural activities, starting with the "Youth Good Day Handmade Market" event while also planning "Youth Handmade Workshop" courses, thereby giving young friends a platform to show themselves.

Mayor Lin Chih-chien pointed out that the "Youth Good Day Handmade Market" invites many local school and department clubs to take part, with hands-on courses on site offering experiential teaching in leather goods, dried flowers, baking and more, so that residents can come and become "handmade experts" together. In addition, there are popular music performances and challenge games that young people enjoy. Residents are invited to join on June 4 to build and fulfill dreams together, to get to know young makers through the event, to increase recognition and understanding of expertise in various fields, and to witness the moment when young people's creative dreams shine.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau explained that in addition to the market activities that are fun to browse, fun to play and fun to look at, on June 4 and June 17-18 workshops on picture books and music will be arranged at the Youth Center, inviting Tang Shou-nan (Tang Tang), author of the well-known picture book "Short-Eared Rabbit," and French composer Divyns to share their creative journeys and experiential teaching. Interested residents are welcome to register and take part, discovering interests and developing talents through hands-on practice.
