Exporting to Japan's Processed Food Market: Taitung Organic Roselle Upgraded

In May of this year (2017), the Taitung County Government, led by Magistrate Huang Chien-ting, signed a "Taitung County Industrial Cooperation and Exchange Memorandum" with the Minamishinshu Kashi Kobo in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The first batch of 2,000 kg of Taitung organic roselle was sent to the Minamishinshu area of Nagano Prefecture, Japan on the 2nd to produce related processed foods. Magistrate Huang Chien-ting also personally observed the container loading operation that morning.

Magistrate Huang Chien-ting stated that he was very pleased that Taitung's organic products are entering the Japanese market. During the process, the county government assisted the farmers' association in successfully overcoming Japan's strict plant quarantine issues. Through the top-level processing technology of Minamishinshu Kashi Kobo, this batch of roselle processed foods will be showcased and offered for tasting at the "2017 Tokyo Ueno Japan Taiwan Festival" (07.07-07.09), which is expected to open up the market for "Taitung Roselle" in Japan in one stroke. In the future, the county government will also continue to promote products such as pomelo and red dragon fruit, as well as overcome fruit fly inspection issues, so that more agricultural products can be exported to Japan or other countries.

The Taitung County International Development and Planning Department pointed out that the results of the first trial cooperation with Minamishinshu Kashi Kobo will also be showcased at the "Taitung County Government Booth" at the Tokyo Ueno Japan Taiwan Festival this summer vacation, displaying new roselle products and holding tasting events, which is expected to create topicality and new highlights for "Taitung Roselle." It is hoped that in the future more agricultural products can be exported, allowing Taitung's good agricultural products to be made into more products in Japan. Roselle not only contains rich nutritional value but also has antioxidant capacity, and its sweet-and-sour taste is deeply loved by women. This time, Taitung organic roselle will also target the Japanese female consumer group, creating a new cross-border business opportunity for Taitung farmers and high-quality agricultural products.
