Key Technical Points for Site Selection and Land Preparation in Fritillaria thunbergii Cultivation
Choose sandy loam soil with convenient drainage and irrigation, deep soil, rich in humus, and loose and fertile for planting; soil that is too clayey or too sandy is not suitable for planting. After selecting the site, apply 3 to 5 tons of decomposed barnyard manure or compost per mu as base fertilizer, turn over a 20 to 30 cm thick layer of soil, till finely and level, and make raised beds with a bed width of 1 to 2 m, a furrow width of 33 cm, and a depth of 13 to 16 cm. Apply 1500 to 2000 kg of base fertilizer, 100 kg of cake fertilizer, and 25 kg of superphosphate per mu, broadcasting them on the bed surface when making the beds and covering with soil.
Land that has been planted with Fritillaria thunbergii cannot be continuously cropped 3 times, otherwise it is prone to disease. It can be rotated with previous crops such as corn, soybean, and sweet potato.
