Detailed Guide to Lysimachia christinae Cultivation Techniques, Master All Planting and Management Methods
Lysimachia christinae, also known as Luodi Tongqian or Tongqian Cao, is a perennial herbaceous plant. It is mainly used to treat hepatitis, gallstones, urinary tract stones, nephritis with edema, and to eliminate ganji (malnutrition in children), and is commonly used as a cooling tea. It is suitable for cultivation on mountain land, sloping land, and as an intercrop in orchards. Cultivating Lysimachia christinae is a good way for farming families to increase their income. The cultivation techniques are described below:
I. Seed propagation: Soak the seeds in 40°C warm water for 24 hours, remove and air-dry, then broadcast sow them in the seedling bed. After broadcast sowing, cover the seeds with sieved fine soil to a depth of 1 cm. The seeds generally begin to germinate in 7 days. The preparation of the seedling bed, the sowing density, and the fertilizer and water management are the same as for general vegetable seedling cultivation.
II. Transplanting: When the seedlings grow to a height of 15 cm, they can be transplanted. The planting site can be the same as for peanuts. Before making the beds, apply 50 kg of phosphorus-containing compound fertilizer per mu, with a plant spacing of 27×33 cm, and water thoroughly after planting to settle the roots.
III. Cultivation management: Fertilize 20 days after planting. If conditions permit, apply 10 loads of human feces per mu, or use diluted urea at a ratio of 100:1. Frequent light applications of fertilizer are best. Each time after harvesting, combine weeding with fertilization.
IV. Pest and disease control: During the growth of Lysimachia christinae, the main pests include stem borers and spiders. They can be controlled by spraying with 40% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution or 25% Zhongke Meiling at 3000-3500 times dilution.
V. Harvesting and processing: When the plants grow to 40-50 cm, they can be cut (excluding root fibers). Bundle every 20-30 plants by wrapping a longer Lysimachia christinae vine around the base, then sun-dry to obtain the finished product. The finished product should be green, free of impurities, and free of mold. If the finished product cannot be sold immediately, it can be stored in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture absorption. Cover the surface of the finished product with nylon film to prevent the color from changing over time, which would affect quality.
