Premier Lin Chuan Visits the Site of Taiwan's First Reclaimed Water Resource Center
Premier Lin Chuan of the Executive Yuan visited the site of the "Turnkey Project for the New Construction of the Yongkang District Water Resource Recovery Center and Reclaimed Water Plant in Tainan City" on the 13th. This is a collaboration between the Tainan City Government and the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is expected to supply 8,000 tons of reclaimed water first in Year 109 (2020), leading the whole of Taiwan and becoming the first reclaimed water plant to supply a high-tech park, ensuring that Tainan's industrial water needs are met.
In May of this year (Year 106, 2017), the Executive Yuan agreed to let the Tainan City Government handle the "Promotion Plan for the Recovery and Reuse of Effluent from the Yongkang Water Resource Recovery Center in Tainan City." In the future, it will work with the Construction and Planning Agency to jointly build the turnkey project for the new construction of the Yongkang Water Resource Recovery Center and Reclaimed Water Plant, and accelerate the Yongkang user connection project. The goal is to supply at least 15,500 tons of reclaimed water to the Southern Taiwan Science Park and Shugu Park by Year 113 (2024), marking a major step forward for reclaimed water promotion in Tainan City.
Mayor Lai Ching-te once again thanked Premier Lin Chuan and his team on behalf of the citizens of Tainan for their support of Tainan, including the Environmental Protection Administration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of the Interior, among others, and also thanked representatives at all levels for their help. In addition, Mayor Lai Ching-te did not forget to mention the borough chiefs of Yongkang District, who put a great deal of effort into this construction, and thanked the borough chiefs for their assistance in allowing municipal construction to proceed smoothly.
Premier Lin Chuan praised Mayor Lai Ching-te's dedication. Water reuse is especially important amid drastic climate change. It can also respond to the large demand for industrial water and can further develop related industries, create production capacity, and improve benefits. It is also part of the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Plan. He hopes everyone will support it together!
