Wen Zhenxi, Chairman of the Miaoli County Leisure Agriculture Development Association (hereinafter referred to as the County Association), on behalf of the Association, signed a memorandum of exchange and cooperation with Cao Jun of the Shanghai Chongming Green Food Production and Marketing Federation on June 14 of year (106) [2017] at the Jiangmayuan Leisure Agriculture Area, opening a brand-new page for leisure agriculture exchanges between Shanghai and Miaoli.
Miaoli County, Taiwan, China, and Chongming District, Shanghai, are both distinctive regions rich in agricultural resources with beautiful and livable environments, and the two places have had frequent exchanges in recent years. Deputy County Magistrate Deng Guiju stated: "We are now already in an era of agriculture integrating the three industries. Signing this memorandum of cooperation, in addition to mutual assistance and exchange between the two places, strengthens mutual understanding between the two places, which helps with the promotion of agricultural products within the county, and the development of leisure agriculture and rural tourism."
The four main purposes of the memorandum are complementary advantages, expanded exchange, strengthened cooperation, and common development. The main contents of the memorandum of cooperation include the establishment of a cooperation platform and an explanation of the scope of cooperation. The two sides will from time to time conduct seminars, visits and other activities in the agricultural field of the two places, and keep communication channels open.
Another major focus of the memorandum is that the County Association will hold a one-week training and study program each year for staff in Chongming District involved in agricultural technology promotion, planting, leisure and related work, increasing opportunities for cooperation between the two sides. The Chongming Green Food Production and Marketing Federation, which signed the memorandum on behalf of its side, stated: "Miaoli is a major county for leisure agriculture in Taiwan, China. Our federation has long been committed to promoting green food. Cooperative learning with your association will enable broader promotion and refinement of rural tourism development in Chongming District, driving business opportunities for green tourism."
