"Taichung Bee Splendor" honey evaluation results announced, 12 beekeepers win awards

To promote Taichung City's honey industry, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau commissioned the Waipu District Farmers' Association to organize the honey evaluation event this year. After preliminary evaluations including drug, general composition and pesticide testing, as well as sensory tasting on the 20th, the evaluation results were announced. Chen Qinyu and 6 other beekeepers won the Special Award, and Wang Zhiwei and 6 other beekeepers won the First Award. The winning honey will be named "Taichung Bee Splendor".

To enable consumers to purchase pure honey that has passed strict screening and selection on the market, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau will name the honey that has passed all safety tests and been fairly and openly evaluated and selected by experts and scholars as "Taichung Bee Splendor".

This year, the Waipu District Farmers' Association was commissioned to organize the honey evaluation event, but due to abnormal climate, honey production dropped sharply this year. The honey entered in this competition came from 5 beekeeping production and marketing groups supervised by the Taichung City Government and the Wufeng, Taiping, Waipu and Dali District farmers' associations, totaling 16 entries. After testing including drug, general composition and pesticide testing, a total of 12 entries passed and advanced to the re-evaluation, while 4 entries did not pass.

For those who passed the preliminary evaluation, on the 20th the Agriculture Bureau invited experts and scholars from the Miaoli District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, the Agriculture and Food Agency, and the Taiwan Beekeepers Association to conduct sensory evaluation review work with rigorous procedures. The evaluation selected 6 beekeepers including Chen Qinyu, Li Meiman, Luo Minzhi, Zhao Yaofeng, Liu Dingjia and Lin Xiuyun, who won the Special Award; the First Award was won by 6 beekeepers including Wang Zhiwei, Wang Chaoli, Zheng Jinkun, Liu Jianzhi, Song Weiting and Zhu Baotang.
