Hsinchu City Lychee Festival Kicks Off Saturday, Mayor Lin Chih-chien: Invites Public Support

The annual Hsinchu City Lychee Festival will kick off Saturday (6/24) at the Cultural Park of the Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau. On that day, in addition to lychees, agricultural specialty product sales, and a Four-H Club charity sale, there will also be many creative lychee foods and more. The event is rich in content, and Mayor Lin Chih-chien sincerely invites people from across the country to take part in the 2017 Lychee Festival and taste the delicious local lychees.

Chen Chuan-kuei, chairman of the Hsinchu City Farmers' Association, said that lychees produced in Hsinchu City are mainly the Heiye and Guiwei varieties. The freshly harvested lychees are brightly colored and plump, quite full and sweet, with thick flesh as their greatest feature. They are the result of hard-working farmers' efforts in cultivation. They are not only healthy but also good for beautifying the complexion. This year, the Hsinchu City Farmers' Association is guiding 6 lychee tourist orchards, which will open to the public for fruit-picking experiences starting 7/1.

Shen Hui-hung, deputy mayor of Hsinchu City, said that she thanks the Hsinchu City Farmers' Association and the farmers for selling their own produce directly and striving together for Taiwan's agriculture, giving the public the good fortune to enjoy delicious and safe agricultural products. She also warmly invited people from across the country to join the lychee feast on Saturday. In addition, on the weekend (6/24, 25), the "2017 Hsinchu Taste Market," "Tasting Lanyang Week," and "Zhuqian Flavor Week" will jointly open at Beida Park, offering the finest agricultural product sales. Three major events satisfy visitors all at once, and the public is invited to take a Hsinchu food tour.
