The most rocking Taichung music event of the summer, the "2017 Daan Sand Sculpture Music Season," will grandly open on July 1 at Daan Coastal Park! The band 831, Tian Ya-huo, Chu Li-jing and the band TRASH are invited to kick off the music season, which will run lively until August 6. Chen Sheng-shan, Director-General of the Taichung City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau, said that this year's themed sand sculptures echo the Taichung World Flora Exposition slogan "Listen to the Sound of Flowers Blooming," breaking past scale records, with 32 medium and large sand sculptures paired with the energetic "Rock Luosigang Hot Music Competition" to bring everyone the charm of the summer seaside.

Tourism and Travel Bureau Director-General Chen Sheng-shan pointed out that this year breaks past design boundaries by incorporating 5 major themes: the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition, Taichung city imagery, local industries, ecological conservation and ocean care, carrying out the largest-scale sand sculpture design and creating 22 large sand sculptures; with the Taichung Flora Exposition slogan "Listen to the Sound of Flowers Blooming" as the entrance image, boldly overcoming the perilous terrain of the beach to carve a giant sand sculpture more than 10 m long, showing a maiden with flowing long hair.

In addition, this year international sand sculptors from 3 countries, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia, as well as a design team of more than 20 people led by domestic master Chen Kun-tian, have moved onto the beach to start carving, displaying exquisitely crafted and superb sculpting skills and carving 22 large sand sculptures. In the second week of the event, a sand sculpture creative competition will be held, and together with 10 sand sculpture works created by outstanding contestants, 32 medium and large exquisite sand sculpture works will be presented in the future.

Director-General Chen Sheng-shan said that this year the "Rock Luosigang Hot Music Competition" will continue to be held, and the band 831, Tian Ya-huo, Chu Li-jing and the band TRASH are also invited to perform at the opening gala of the Daan Sand Sculpture Music Season.
