Warming up for the 2018 Flora Expo: floral art installations at Xitun District Office in Taichung go on display from today

Taichung will host the World Flora Expo in 2018. To promote floral art activities, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau guided the Xitun District Office in organizing a floral art installation competition. The competition entries are on display at the Xitun District Office from today until July 7, hoping to bring floral art into daily life and build Taichung into a garden city.

A total of 12 teams participated in the floral art installation competition. After judging recently, Liu Chung-kai's work "City Garden" won first place; second place went to "LIKE Flora Expo" by Kuo Che-tung, Wang Cheng-yu and Chang Chia-hsuan; third place went to "Everything Goes as You Wish" by Wang Chin-tai and Chiang Ming-hsien.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau pointed out that the flowers used in this competition were limited to fresh cut flowers, potted flowers and cut foliage, and Taichung City's characteristic flowers had to account for more than 60%, including gladiolus, anthurium, colored calla lily, star of Bethlehem, lily, cymbidium, Phalaenopsis orchid, lisianthus and Oncidium, which participants used creatively to make floral art installations. The works are displayed at the plaza in front of the Xitun District Office.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau stated that it hopes that through floral promotion activities, floral art can be brought into daily life, increasing the public's love of flowers, revitalizing the flower market, and warming up for the upcoming 2018 Flora Expo.
