The 6th Huwei Corn Festival in Yunlin invites you to eat corn and tour historic sites
The Huwei Corn Festival in Yunlin County has now entered its sixth edition this year. It was held at 9 a.m. on the 8th beside Yongcui Pavilion in Huwei Township. County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung, Cultural Affairs Director Lin Meng-yi, Agriculture Department Deputy Director Hsu Yung-yu, Huwei Township Mayor Lin Wen-pin, and several township representatives all attended. In addition to boiled corn and tastings from the corn creative cuisine competition, the event also displayed different corn varieties and offered DIY corn-shaped thermometers and many other activities. Early in the morning, the site was already packed with enthusiastic participants. Besides tasting locally grown corn, visitors could also tour the nearby Yongcui Pavilion.
County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung said that Huwei's corn is of very high quality. To promote the corn grown by farmers, the corn festival was specially held, and this year it has already reached its sixth edition. In addition to more stalls, the content has become richer with each edition. Not only can people taste traditionally prepared corn, but culinary experts were also invited to specially design corn dishes, which is very exciting. Through the corn festival, the county government and Huwei Township Office promote Huwei corn and invite the public to taste farmers' hygienic, safe, and reliable products, supporting local agriculture with practical action.
The event was held in front of Yongcui Pavilion, a new highlight among Huwei's historic sites. It was recently taken over by the Taiwan Art Development Association and focuses mainly on cultural exhibitions. Many people attending the corn festival also took the opportunity to go inside for a visit. The corn festival features diverse and rich content, including a corn creative cuisine show, corn cooking competition, corn dish tastings, a corn knowledge exhibition, children's painting, a DIY corn-shaped thermometer limited to 100 sets, free tree seedling collection, community performances with local characteristics, exciting stage programs, sales of agricultural specialty products, and a commendation ceremony for model farming households and farm women, among various other programs. The public is welcome to come to Huwei, eat corn, and tour historic sites.
