Jasmine is a fragrant summer plant; once it blooms, its scent is everywhere. But jasmine only blooms on new branches. If you can make the new branches of jasmine "turn 1 branch into 2," it will keep blooming endlessly, and the number of flowers will also increase. So, flower lovers need to master these 4 measures well.

1. Pinch or cut the tips of new shoots

Pinching and cutting the tips of jasmine's new shoots is an extremely important measure for increasing yield. It can turn 1 jasmine branch into 2, and turn a leggy branch that bears no flowers into 2 or 4 branches. Pinching the tips of opposite leaves can also produce 2 flowering branches.

New shoots that emerge from the old stems of jasmine in spring cannot form flower buds because of the low temperature. Only after growth stops and new flowering branches sprout can flower buds form. Therefore, new branches produced in spring the following year should be pinched or tipped in time, which can bring flowering branches out earlier. After each flower harvest, the tips must be pinched and fertilizer applied, using a general-purpose organic liquid fertilizer for flowers, diluted 500 times, once a week, so that it can bloom multiple times a year and give a bountiful harvest.

2. Prune reasonably and moderately

Pruning is also very important work for jasmine. Generally, flower lovers need to master the rule of pruning: cut the young jasmine plant at 20 cm above the pot surface. If you cut below 10 cm, jasmine will produce few branches; if you cut above 30 cm, although jasmine will produce many new branches, the branches will be slender and grow weakly. Therefore, 20 cm is the most suitable distance.

3. Thin the leaves

Thinning jasmine's leaves can promote earlier sprouting of new shoots and more branching, because removing jasmine's old leaves improves ventilation and light conditions, which is beneficial for flower bud differentiation. The method is: remove some of the old leaves left from the previous year, and after each season's flower harvest, remove some of the old leaves on the branches that grew in the previous season.

Leaf thinning has an obvious flower-promoting effect, but it must be paired with timely fertilizer application. For fertilizer, it is still recommended to use liquid fertilizer, a general-purpose one for flowers, once a week, which has a flower-promoting effect. Otherwise, the sprouted branches will be slender and the flower quality will be poor.

4. Remove buds

For the first flower buds that jasmine produces in spring, because the temperature is relatively low, the flowers do not develop well, so they can be removed to avoid nutrient consumption and to prevent affecting the quality of the next flowers.

Flower lovers, through the above 4 measures, jasmine will keep blooming endlessly, with fragrance in all four seasons. Try it now.
