Yunlin County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung Goes North to Fight for the Establishment of a Yunlin Agricultural Products Logistics Center

To solve the severe imbalance between agricultural production and sales, Yunlin County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung made a special trip north yesterday (the 27th) to meet with Council of Agriculture Minister Lin Tsung-hsien, seeking the Council of Agriculture's plan to set up an agricultural products logistics center in Yunlin, hoping that through the overall planning of the logistics center, agricultural production and sales can be guided toward greater soundness and the income of Yunlin's many farmers can be safeguarded.

Magistrate Lee Chin-yung appealed to Minister Lin Tsung-hsien that Yunlin County's agricultural output value has exceeded 70 billion yuan for 3 consecutive years, the highest among all counties and cities in Taiwan, China; under national land planning, of Yunlin's more than 120,000 hectares of land, 80,000 hectares must be controlled for agricultural use, requiring Yunlin's farmers to shoulder the responsibility of stabilizing the nation's food supply. The "agricultural products logistics center" should logically be sited first in Yunlin; choosing to site it in Yunlin is giving Yunlin's farmers a reasonable measure of justice.

Magistrate Lee Chin-yung stressed that over the years the county government has planned to set up the "Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Agricultural Products Logistics Center" on 88 hectares of land at the Baozhong Taiwan Sugar Longyan Farm, and to set up a national-level agricultural products logistics center on 100 hectares of land extending northward from the Xiluo Fruit and Vegetable Market, with the planning content further extending to processing plant zones and special-purpose vegetable agricultural production zones, etc., combining contract farming to stabilize supply and demand. Among these, the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan logistics center plan further recommends listing the Yunlin base as the main core, giving priority to developing and establishing a vegetable warehousing and logistics center. Yunlin has the conditions, the advantages, and even greater urgency, and needs the central government's support. Therefore, he made the special trip north to seek central government funding support, hoping the Council of Agriculture can refer to the relevant plans and set up an agricultural products logistics center in Yunlin, effectively solving the problem of imbalance between agricultural production and sales.
