As summer arrives, the wild grasses and flowers in rural fields all bloom with beautiful flowers one after another, bringing some different colors to the scorching early summer. Most farmer friends, in their spare time from farm work, can also look at the wildflowers and take a rest. However, our country is vast and rich in resources, with numerous wild plants, and many wild grasses and flowers are ones that many people have never seen, especially some wild grasses and flowers growing on high mountains. Below, the author introduces a wild grass from the mountains. This wild grass is very beautiful, but its name is quite interesting.

In the mountainous areas of southwestern China, there is a wild grass that blooms with blue flowers, blooming precisely at the end of June and the beginning of July. Whenever this wild grass blooms, it is like walking into a blue ocean, very beautiful. But when it comes to the name of this wild grass, it is very interesting, called "Dao Ti Hu" (Inverted Teapot). However, among the people, its alias is even more interesting, known as "Dogshit Radish."

When the author went into the mountains with an old farmer friend from the village, the first time I saw this flower, I was attracted by its color. But when I heard its name, I felt an inexplicable urge to laugh, not knowing how the name "Dogshit Radish" came about.

According to the old farmer friend in the village, this is related to the root of this wild grass. Dao Ti Hu has an enlarged, deformed root, pitch-black, looking both like "dogshit" and like a radish, hence it is called "Dogshit Radish." And along with it, the beautiful blue flowers it blooms are also jokingly called "dogshit flowers."

Dao Ti Hu actually has a very limited distribution in China, mainly distributed in Yunnan, western Guizhou, southwestern to southeastern Tibet, western Sichuan, southern Gansu, and western Hubei, and its growing locations are also relatively remote, mainly growing on high mountains at altitudes of 1200 m to 4500 m, so many friends have never seen it.

But don't be fooled by how vulgar and inelegant this wild grass's name sounds; its value is actually very high. It is a commonly used medicinal herb among farmer friends in mountainous areas.

According to "Southern Yunnan Materia Medica," the whole plant and root of Dao Ti Hu can be used as medicine. Its taste is sweet and bitter, its nature is cool, and it is non-toxic. As medicine, it has the effects of clearing heat and draining dampness, dissipating blood stasis and stopping bleeding, and relieving cough. Among the people, it is also commonly used to treat malaria, hepatitis, dysentery, painful urination, leukorrhea, pulmonary tuberculosis cough, traumatic bleeding, fractures, joint dislocation, and many other symptoms. Its root can also be used to treat nephritis, hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other inflammations.

It is precisely because Dao Ti Hu not only has beautiful flowers and high medicinal value that many farmer friends in mountainous areas love it very much and protect it extremely well, not allowing it to be picked at will. So if you go traveling in the mountains, don't pick this wild grass at will when you see it.

Dear friends, have you ever seen this wild grass called "Dogshit Radish"? Welcome to leave a message and share!
