Multiple measures for preserving flowers and fruits of greenhouse zucchini

Multiple measures to ensure fruit set in greenhouse zucchini

?Temperature After the plant has set fruit, in order to accelerate its growth, the temperature inside the greenhouse should be raised appropriately, with the daytime temperature controlled at 25°C~28°C and the nighttime temperature at 15°C~18°C, so as to promote plant growth and increase yield. Since zucchini requires relatively strong light, in practice you can uncover the straw curtains early and lower them late, wipe the drip-free greenhouse film every 3~5 days to remove grass debris and dust on the film, and hang reflective film on the back wall inside the greenhouse to increase the light intensity inside the greenhouse; if there is continuous rainy or snowy weather, you can spray a photosynthesis promoter to enhance leaf photosynthesis.

Water and fertilizer When the first fruit has set and grown to 10 cm, the second watering can be given. After that, zucchini will gradually enter the peak fruiting stage, and in greenhouse management, fertilization and watering should be carried out according to the weather and the plant's development.

Supplementary hand pollination Every day at 8~9 a.m., when the greenhouse temperature reaches 20°C, pick the male flowers that have just opened, remove the petals, and gently dab the pollen from the stamens onto the stigma of the female flower. You can also use 20~30 PPM of 2,4-D or 30~40 PPM of anti-drop agent to apply to the female flower, using a brush to apply it between the base of the style and the base of the petals. If hand pollination is combined with 2,4-D or anti-drop agent, the effect is even better.

Hanging and trellising vines At 1.8 m above each row of zucchini, stretch a thin steel wire in a north-south direction. Tie one hanging string to each zucchini plant, with the upper end tied to the thin steel wire. The lower part of the hanging string tied to the zucchini must be tied with a slip knot, so that after the plant sets fruit it will not lean and fall to one side. When hanging the vines, keep one main stem per plant and remove the other axillary buds early. At the same time, frequently remove the old leaves at the bottom that have lost their function and turned yellow and withered, to reduce nutrient consumption. During the growth process, zucchini tends to produce many tendrils; to save nutrients, the tendrils should also be removed early.
