Passion fruit planting area nears 80,000 mu, will Guigang become Guangxi's largest planting base?
A reporter from Guigang Daily learned from the "Guigang Passion Fruit Brings Health to Millions of Families" 2017 Guigang Passion Fruit Harvest Season and Passion Fruit Picking Festival held on June 15 that the city's passion fruit planting area currently nears 80,000 mu, ranking among the top in Guangxi.
It is understood that since last year, in response to the real needs of agricultural supply-side structural reform, agricultural structural adjustment and poverty alleviation industries, Guigang City decided to make the passion fruit industry one of the key industries to develop in Guigang, and the municipal government issued the "Guigang City Passion Fruit Industry Development Implementation Plan (2017-2019)" and the "Guigang City Passion Fruit Industry Development and Industrial Poverty Alleviation Tackling Year Activity Work Plan", proposing to develop passion fruit to 200,000 mu within three years and striving to build Guangxi's largest passion fruit production base and passion fruit juice processing base. At present, the city's passion fruit planting area nears 80,000 mu, making it Guangxi's largest passion fruit planting base.
Guigang City combines the construction of the passion fruit industry chain with the diversified development of selenium products, focusing on cultivating a selenium-enriched passion fruit industry chain. At present, the city has more than 160 large-scale growers with contiguous plantings of over 50 mu, and the Autonomous Region Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau recently approved Guigang City to take charge of drafting and formulating the "Technical Regulations for Selenium-Enriched Passion Fruit Production", which marks that Guigang City's standardized passion fruit production has reached a new level.
