Taichung City Flora Expo briefing sessions conclude successfully; Mayor Lin Chia-lung: We will keep pushing forward

The 10th Taichung City Government Flora Expo briefing session for the Dajia, Da'an and Waipu districts was held yesterday (the 28th) at Dajia Industrial High School, with many local ward chiefs and residents in attendance to hear the municipal briefing. Mayor Lin Chia-lung said he was delighted that all sectors had united local strength to jointly care about Greater Taichung, and that with the advancement of various construction projects, Taichung had already changed. The city government will keep moving forward and seek support from the central government's Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program to narrow the urban-rural gap and bring about a more livable and relocation-friendly living environment; in addition, Taichung will host the Flora Expo next year, which will not only drive local and industrial development but also leave behind sustainable value.

This year, the Taichung City Government combined the Flora Expo with 10 municipal briefing sessions held across all districts of the city to explain the progress of major construction projects to citizens and listen to local public opinion. The final session on the 28th, for the Dajia, Da'an and Waipu districts, featured a municipal briefing by Chang Chih-hsiang, Director-General of the Land Administration Bureau; Deputy Secretary-General Kuo Kun-ming, City Councilor Wu Min-chi, representatives from the office of Legislator Tsai Chi-chang and others were all present to join the occasion.

Regarding local construction, Mayor Lin Chia-lung pointed out that the city government continues to implement the urban vision of "smooth roads, bright lights and clear drains," strengthening infrastructure closely tied to people's daily lives, and is seeking the central government's Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program; rail projects including the "Greater Taichung Mountain Hand Line," the "MRT Blue Line" and the "MRT Green Line extension to Changhua" have already won support for inclusion, while water environment construction and urban-rural construction are also being actively pursued; in addition, transportation projects such as the link from National Freeway No. 1 to Provincial Highway 74, the Fengyuan-Tanzi section of National Freeway No. 4 and the elevation of the West Coast Expressway are being carried out in cooperation with the central government.

In the future, all the Flora Expo pavilions will be used sustainably; for example, the 2020 World Orchid Conference will be held in Taichung, so they can continue to be used. In addition, Taichung ranks first in Taiwan for the production of flowers such as Wenshin orchids, lilies, gladioli and anthuriums, and the Flora Expo will also drive the expansion of Taichung's flower exports, promote industrial development and build a garden city.
