"2017 Taocheng Solar Power Festival" Chiayi City Builds a Solar Power and Energy Storage City

The Chiayi City Government recently held the "2017 Taocheng Solar Power Festival" at the Municipal Gangping Sports Park. The event featured exhibitions of green energy and power-saving facilities, sales of energy-efficient home appliances, and also provided a matchmaking platform for solar photovoltaic installation and loan application services, attracting nearly a thousand manufacturers, members of the public and schoolchildren to visit the site. It was further combined with a picnic party organized by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, adding parent-child experience activities such as challenge games and raffle draws, painted car displays, and children's play facilities.

To promote renewable energy, the event subscribed to 1,000 kWh of green power from Taiwan Power Company, demonstrating the Chiayi City Government's determination to promote green energy and power saving. At the same time, a "Trade Old Items for New Favorites" activity was held at the venue, inviting everyone to participate in resource recycling, exchanging recyclable items (10 discs or 20 waste batteries) for tree saplings. With the public exchanging them very enthusiastically, this served to teach people what a carbon-neutral event is, helping everyone understand that in addition to purifying the air, plants also have the effect of reducing carbon dioxide through carbon sequestration. The public was urged to save energy and reduce carbon in their daily lives and to jointly support the promotion of renewable energy.

Mayor Twu Shiing-jer also attended the event venue to hold the inauguration ceremony for three solar photovoltaic demonstration systems completed by the Chiayi City Government at the Liucuo Community Activity Center and on the east and west sides of Central Plaza, demonstrating the determination to build Chiayi City into a solar power and energy storage city.
