Symptoms:

In orchards with poor irrigation conditions, low-lying terrain and heavy clay soil, berry cracking occurs more severely. It mostly happens to fruit about to be harvested; some split at the top, some split at the stem end. Because the berries are arranged too tightly, the berries squeeze against each other, or because the skin has poor toughness, berry cracking occurs. Or it is caused by an imbalance in soil moisture, that is, the soil is too dry in the early stage, the skin tissue has little elasticity, and in the later stage, if there is continuous rain, or the soil is watered too much, the moisture in the berries suddenly increases, and the fruit turgor pressure rises, causing the berries to split lengthwise.

Control Methods:

1. By thinning branches and thinning clusters and adjusting the load, keep 2 clusters of fruit on strong branches, 1 cluster on medium branches, and no fruit clusters on weak branches; promptly remove secondary clusters and pinch off the cluster tips, so that the cluster size is moderate.

2. After watering, cultivate and loosen the soil promptly to reduce soil moisture fluctuations, and use simple facilities for rain sheltering to reduce changes in berry dryness and humidity, which can effectively prevent grape top cracking.

3. When grapes are nearly ripe, spray once with potassium dihydrogen phosphate and rare earth micro-fertilizer.
