Avoid these common mistakes in grape growing

First pitfall:High yields, heavy fertilisation
Continuous high yields weaken the grapevine and cause its vigour to decline.
Excessive fertilisation leads to soil acidification, secondary salinisation, reduced soil function and more soil-borne diseases.
Plant at a reasonable density, adjust the trellis system, control per-unit yield and fertilise sensibly.
Yield and vine vigour should be in balance, and vine vigour and soil condition should be in balance. Do not force growth blindly.
Second pitfall: no autumn pruning and no autumn feeding after grape harvest
After harvest, remove the old fruiting canes directly and let the new canes develop fully to obtain better flower buds.
Autumn feeding restores vine vigour better and regulates the root system; spring feeding can hardly achieve this effect.
Third pitfall: applying mainly chemical fertiliser, with little or no organic fertiliser/bio-bacterial fertiliser
Root-zone mulching, orchard grass growing and straw returnare the three great treasures for increasing soil organic matter
They reduce soil salinity damage and acidification, increase soil organic matter content, promote the transformation and decomposition of soil nutrients, improve soil physical properties, enhance grapevine root activity and cultivate a healthy vine.
Fourth pitfall: blindly rushing for early crops
Breaking dormancy early and raising the temperature early, disregarding the dormancy period and chilling requirement, and disregarding the rules of grape development and growth.
Fifth pitfall: abusing regulators and relying too much on regulators
This causes an imbalance of endogenous hormones in the grapevine and premature ageing of the vine.
Use plant growth regulators scientifically and sensibly. Do not blindly increase the dosage and frequency.
Sixth pitfall: working behind closed doors and ignoring market demand
The grape market has a specific consumer group, and the voice of this group has gradually grown louder in the internet era. Healthy, natural grapes are what everyone wants; producing blindly will lead to big losses.
