Pingtung Lemon Farmer Grows Excellent Quality, Attracting Retailers to Stock and Sell

Pingtung is the main lemon-producing region, accounting for 70% of Taiwan's total production. In other words, in Taiwan, 7 out of every 10 lemons come from Pingtung. Pingtung's tropical climate is ideal for lemon production, which gives Pingtung-grown lemons their excellent quality. Farmer Huang Yuchen, who is based in Longquan, Neipu, has planted 1 hectare of lemons. Her lemons are of excellent quality, full of aroma, and less acidic than those grown by others, and are widely loved by consumers in central and northern Taiwan.

Huang Yuchen said she farms using natural farming methods, harvesting whenever there is fruit. She does not spray pesticides during the growing process and does not use chemical fertilizers. For the weeds in the orchard, she also uses a mower to cut them rather than using herbicides. Over the 5 years she has been growing lemons, she has cultivated a group of loyal customers in central and northern Taiwan. Because her fresh fruit is of good quality and her orchard management is thorough, this time, through the assistance of the Pingtung County Government, MUJI was introduced to make purchases. Although the quantity is not large, she feels deeply honored that her lemons can become the only fresh fruit product sold as a limited-edition item during the opening period of the MUJI Pingtung store.

The Pingtung County Government stated that when MUJI came to open a store in Pingtung this time, it also selected local Pingtung agricultural products as limited-edition items for the opening period. This shows that the Pingtung County Government's agricultural promotion efforts have been recognized by people from all walks of life. In addition to promoting agriculture, the county government will also encourage farmers to adopt environmentally friendly farming methods. In the future, through the strength of all sectors, Pingtung's premium agricultural products can be promoted together around the world.
