Mulberry cultivation helps farmers in Guangshan, Henan increase their income

On May 6, 2017, tourists picked mulberries in the mulberry orchard of the Shiwang Ecological Agriculture Professional Cooperative in Chunshugang Village, Guangshan County. In 2014, the Shiwang Cooperative introduced and planted 60 mu of improved mulberry varieties from Taiwan, China and South Korea.
The cooperative uses the mulberry cultivation industry to drive the development of agritourism through a "leisure picking" model, advocates a green and healthy lifestyle, and guides the general public toward healthy leisure. It has developed added products such as mulberry leaf tea and mulberry fruit wine, promoting the transformation of traditional agriculture into modern agriculture with high profit margins and high added value. It has also encouraged 12 neighboring poor farmer households to grow mulberries, increasing each household's annual income by more than 20,000 yuan.
